You can always grow…
In early spring, I make my annual attempt at being a really good gardener. I wouldn’t say I am a green thumb, but I am not too shabby at it. I plant 2-3 pansies spaced out every few inches in 3 different colors across a few of my garden beds. I would describe them as slightly prettier little weeds when they are planted. Cute enough to add a pop of color. By no means do they “make” the garden, they start out as an accessory.
Well, here we are early September and my early April plantings wow’d me today. (And yes, that picture is really some of them!)
(Additional side note for those who follow along regularly, all of my pictures on this blog are my actual pictures - no AI, no google images, just me and my iPhone camera)
See, pansies are expected to expand and bloom. As the spring turns to summer the heat, sun and more watering naturally grow them. But then they stall until the heat waves hit. Every time one hits, they explode.
They go from being a side note in the garden or a pop of color, to being a bigger player, to almost 6 months later they are the garden. They are the star of the show. They stand higher than the down lights and the box bushes. They require you to look at them in their beauty. To respect the plant they are built. To be impressed with their stature. To be overjoyed by their journey.
Sounds awesome.
